Animation studio Gianax has recently announced that the long awaited sequel film to 1987’s Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamis. The film Blue Uru (Aoki Uru) was supposed to release in 1993 but ran into many financial problems as the company was operating at a loss during the time with production ending in July that year. The film was also resurrected in 1998 and 2001since Gainax had the necessary resources but were ultimately scrapped on both occasions.
The original Blue Uru was planned to be directed by Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) with Hiroyuki Yamaga and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who were the writer and producer of Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamis respectively. The new planned film will have Yamaga directing and writing the film while Sadamoto will be creating the character designs.
There has been no release date or time frame announced for the film but could the third time be the charm?
