One of the biggest surprises of the meeting, was the appearance of Blizzard Entertainment’s Senior Vice President, Chris Metzen. Blizzard Entertainment is mainly known for its popular PC game franchises; WarCraft, StarCraft and Diablo, and now Blizzard has announced that Diablo III will be available on consoles, their first console game in two decades. Diablo III will be on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

The game will feature console specific controls, a new console interface and 4 player split screen co-op. The game will be a port of the most recent version of Diablo III, which shortly after release had a number of problems on the technical side and the gameplay. Recently the game has had many large updates that change the nature of the game and end game content.

No release date has been revealed for the PS3 and PS4 edition of Diablo III.

Destiny

Another big surprise was the appearance of Activision’s Eric Hirshberg and he too had a surprise, that Bungie’s next big project Destiny would be appearing on the PlayStation 4. Destiny is Bungie’s next game since the Halo franchise and is being called a Shared World Shooter. The game features a large sandbox world and features many social aspects that would go well with the social integration of the PS4. The game will feature multiple classes and is set in a bleak future.

Not only did Bungie reveal that the game will release on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, simultaneously, they also revealed a new trailer that featured gameplay, the first since it’s reveal last week. The PlayStation releases will also receive exclusive content. This will be Bungie’s first video game on a PlayStation console.

No release date was revealed for Destiny.
