The Sony PlayStation 4 has been officially announced! We will be covering all the new and exciting information from the PlayStation Meeting 2013 about the brand new console!
Here are the first two games that have been announced for the PlayStation 4; an action platformer from Studio Japan and a team based racing game from Evolution Studios.
Knack
The first game revealed at the meeting, and the first game officially revealed for the PlayStation 4 is Studio Japan’s Knack. Knack is an action platformer exclusively releasing on the PS4, and stars a small robot called Knack. The game ultilises Unreal Engine 4 and features a cartoonish art style. Knack himself can transform into a much larger and dangerous form, destroying the monsters in his path.
Gameplay footage of Knack was also shown to be compatible with Remote Play and cross play, confirming that Knack will also be releasing on the PlayStation Vita. The game focuses on some of the new graphical powers the PS4 houses and all the new particle effects and on screen destruction as Knack destroys the orcs and the objects around him.
No release date has been revealed for Knack.
DriveClub
The next game revealed was DriveClub, Evolution Studios’ next racing game after the Motorstorm series on the PS3. DriveClub is the first racing game for the PlayStation 4 and has the looks of a racing simulator. But unlike traditional sims, DriveClub has an emphasis on team based gameplay and focuses on squad based racing. The game focuses on the social aspects of the PS4 allowing gamers to invite and challenge their friends to races, join their club , beat their time in races and share lap times.
The game has been in development for a decade and features a brand new First Person mode which immerses the player as an actual racer, being in a first person view as the driver opens the door and gets ready to race. The cars have been designed to look exactly like their real life counterparts, where Evolution has been working closely with car manufactures. The game looks magnificent and it is interesting to see the new social aspects integrated into the game.
No release date was revealed for DriveClub.
