Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity Artwork & Screenshots

Nintendo Europe has launched a large collection of images for the next title in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, which is due to release on the Nintendo 3DS this May. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity is the first game in the series to appear on the 3DS and 3DS XL and is set in a world populated by Pokémon where you control one yourself.

In the new game you will be able to choose to play as Pikachu, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, or Axew. The game plays differently from the main games and plays similar to a rougelike, dungeon crawler, where you control a team of Pokémon. Being on the 3DS, the game will deliver full 3D capabilities as well as the Augmented Reality function and more powerful hardware.

It is your mission to battle your way through Mystery Dungeons that have sprung up across this world, and to uncover a fiendish plot that threatens your new home and its Pokémon inhabitants. No dungeon will appear in the same way twice, so an infinite number of possibilities can unfold.

In this new game, players can discover Mystery Dungeons accessible only through Magnagates, mysterious portals activated when the Nintendo 3DS system’s cameras are used to scan round objects in the real world, such as footballs or clock faces. Once a Magnagate is discovered, the player becomes a different Pokémon to step through it and tackle the Mystery Dungeon that lies beyond. Items and money that players receive through successfully completing a dungeon revealed by a Magnagate can be used in the main adventure, too.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity also introduces wireless multiplayer features, allowing as many as four people to work together to battle through dungeons.

To tease Pokémon fans, Nintendo has released a string of images for the game. Below you can see the renders and artworks of various Pokémon you will meet throughout the game, including Lugia and Ho-Oh.

On top of those, English screenshots of the game in action has also been released, and in large numbers as well.
