5pb. Announces Three New Games for Xbox One

Microsoft held a Software for Xbox One Presentation event earlier in the year, where Japanese publishers and develops 5pb. and Mages announced that 3 games that be launching on the Xbox One, which will release in Japan on September 4. They announced games include: Mystereet F: The Detectives’ Curtain Call, the recently announced Chaos;Child and a video game based on the 2012 anime Psycho-Pass.

 

Mystereet F: The Detectives’ Curtain Call

The first game announced was Mystereet F: The Detectives’ Curtain Call. The game is a mystery detective visual novel and will be developed by Abel Software. It will be composed of a remake of the original 2004 Mystereet VN and a new sequel titled Mystereet 2 ~Farewell Encounter~.

The game was previously in development with Abel Software as the sole developer with Hiroyuki Kanno, the company founder and creator of Yu-No, writing the game’s scenario. Kanno passed away in December 2011 and the game in an indefinite hiatus. Eventually, Mages picked up the game and started to work on it alongside Abel Software, who will finish off Kanno’s work on the scenario.

Some character designs for the main characters of the game were released as well. They are designed by Aoi Nanase, who worked on the character designs of the Seraphim Call anime and Asuka 120% video game.

Chaos;Child

The next game announced for the Xbox One is Chaos;Child, the next instalment in 5pb. and Nitro+’s science adventure game series, following Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate and Robotics;Notes. The game was revealed last year at the Live5pb.2013 event. Chaos;Child will also make use of Microsoft’s SmartGlass system so that players can play away from the console. The game is set 6 years after Chaos;Head in Shibuya 15 years, after a 7.8 earthquake, where 3851 died and over 30,000 people have been injured.

After the earthquake the city has rebuilt itself, but many strange events where numerous people are mysterious dying. At each death a mysterious seal is left behind. There has been two major famous incidents; the first includes a livestreamer who was currently livestreaming, but he got up to get the door. When he returned, his right forearm was gone and he eventually started to bleed and died on stream.

The second popular incident involves a street singer who was singing the song Let’s Sing, but was bleeding profusely. It was eventually found that the person had a loud-speaker inside their stomach.

In the game you play as Miyashiro Takuru, the president of a local school’s journalism club. Takuru’s parents died in the earthquake and now lives in the in an evacuation center. After the new mysterious deaths he takes an interest in the story and decides to investigate.

The game will have similar features to the previous games from 5pb. and Nitro+. The game’s scenario and story will be written by 5pb. and will feature character designs from Mutsumi Sasaki, the lead character designer of Chaos;Head. The character designs of the main characters have released:

  • Arimura Hinae – the director of the school’s literature club

The game features a new system that helps solve the new mysteries, called Mapping Trigger.

Chaos;Child will also feature the return of Delusional Triggers, where the player makes choices based on their emotions to advance the story.

Psycho-Pass: Psychopaths

The last announced game is a video game adaptation of Psycho-Pass, developed by 5pb. Psycho-Pass: Psychopaths will be based on Production I.G.’s 2012 anime series and will move away from the series’ city scape towards islands set between episodes 1 and 6. The game will follow new characters and enemies who will cross paths with familiar characters from the series. The game’s story will be written and supervised by Gen Urobuchi, the script writer and series composer of the anime. Psycho-Pass: Psychopaths will also support SmartGlass and Kinect. Other information on the game has not released so far.

Xbox-One-Logo

All of the games will be releasing on the Xbox One in Japan. Chaos;Child is the only game with a 2014 release date, whilst Mystereet F: The Detectives’ Curtain Call and Psycho-Pass: Psychopaths have no announced dates. Information about the games will release at a later date. The Xbox One itself will finally release in Japan on September 4th.
