The official website of Free has revealed the air date of the series’ second season. Free! Eternal Summer will air from July 2. In addition to the announcement, some new images were also released on the website for the series about the upcoming volume of High☆Speed!.
Kyoto Animation has released the covers for the second volume of the High☆Speed! light novel, written by Kouji Ohji and illustrated by Futoshi Nishiya. Volume 2 will be set after the first novel as the main characters move on to middle school, where new characters will be introduced. The first novel feature the characters in elementary school. The anime’s second season will be inspired by the second novel, which will release on July 2nd as well, and feature new characters across both series.

The site also released an alternate cover of the novel, which features Rin Matsuoka and his new friends.
The anime’s website also released an updated design for Sousuke Yamazaki, a new character debuting in the second season. He is one of Rin’s friend from elementary school. He will be voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya (Junpei Hyuuga in Kuroko’s Basketball, Asahi Azumane from Haikyuu!!).
Additionally, the site also has a bunch of Twitter profile images that anyone can use for their own Twitter account.

Free! (Free! – Iwatobi Swim Club) is an anime adaptation of Kouji Ohji light novel High☆Speed!, which is illustrated by Futoshi Nishiya. The light novel received an honourable mention in the 2011 Kyoto Animation Award contest, where it was eventually published by the studio in July 2013. The anime itself aired in July last year, and is animated by Kyoto Animation and Animation Do – with the latter’s animation debut. There was also a radio show and two drama CD volumes released to promote the anime.
Here is a synopsis of the series from MAL:
The story revolves around Haruka Nanase, a boy who has always loved to be immersed in water, and to swim in it. Before graduating from elementary school, he participated in a swimming tournament along with his fellow swimming club members, Makoto Tachibana, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rin Matsuoka. After achieving victory, each of the boys went their separate ways.
Time passed, and in the middle of their uneventful high school lives Rin appears and challenges Haruka to a match, showing Haruka his overwhelming power. Not wanting it to end like this, Haruka, gathers together Makoto and Nagisa once again and brings a new member named Rei Ryugazaki to create the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club in order to defeat Rin.
Free! Eternal Summer will air on July 2, during the Summer 2014 Anime season. The second volume of High☆Speed! will also release that day.
