At the most recent Nintendo Direct, a brand new trailer has been released for the next instalment in the Fire Emblem franchise, currently known as Fire Emblem if in Japan. This new trailer introduces the premise of the game (where the player has to choose one side of the war) its main characters and small snippets of gameplay. The game will be once again developed by Intelligent Systems, who also developed the last instalment Fire Emblem Awakening, with the character designs by Yusuke Kozaki, who also did the designs for Awakening and No More Heroes, and the story written by Shin Kibayashi, an award winning novelist.

Fire Emblem if, will be releasing in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS on June 25th this year. Nintendo Australia has earlier revealed that the game will release internationally later in 2015.

It also reveals that there will be two versions of the game on launch in Japan, Fire Emblem if: Kingdom of Hoshido and Fire Emblem if: Kingdom of Nour. Each game will have their own unique path in the overall story in the game as the player picks their side in the war. Players who purchase one version of the game can buy the other as DLC and a third DLC is currently planned for a neutral route.
