Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel – I .Presage Flower Tops ¥1 Billion in 18 Days

It has almost been a few weeks since the release of the first film in ufotable’s (Fate/ZeroKara no Kyoukaianime adaptation of the Heaven’s Feel route in Type-Moon’s Fate/stay night visual novel and new box office figures have been released for Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel I .presage flower. The film has earned over ¥1 Billion (~ US $8.7 Million) at the Japanese box office in its first 18 days.

As of November 1st, Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel – I .presage flower has earned over ¥1 Billion at the Japanese box office since its release on October 14th. The earnings has correlated with over 650,000 tickets sold. During the film’s opening weekend is has sold over 247,000 tickets for a ¥413,030,840 (~ US$3.65 Million) opening.

The film has had the second biggest opening weekend for an anime film based on a late night anime series, just behind Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale‘s ¥425 Million (~ US$3.76 Million) opening with over 308,000 tickets sold. The film’s opening surpassed Love Live! The School Idol Movie, ¥400.23 Million (~ US$3.55 Million), and Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica: Rebellion, ¥400 Million (~ US$3.54 Million).

A 7 day countdown was released for the film, with a new illustration image from a Type-Moon artist each day.

The first details about the second film were revealed in an after credits preview trailer after the first film, where it will be titled Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel II. lost butterfly. Not many details were revealed other than its title, a few scenes and that it will be released in 2018.

Tomonori Sudou (Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin) will direct the film trilogy with Takahiro Miura (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Fate/Zero) producing the series’ storyboards.

Japanese pop singer Aimer performs the film’s main theme song.

Fate/stay night is a visual novel released by Type-Moon for the PC in 2004, and is the first in their Fate series. The visual novel was very successful and claimed the title of highest selling visual novel in that year. 2006 saw two adaptations of the game, a manga by Datto Nishiwaki and an anime series by Studio Deen. Additionally in that year, a light novel series titled Fate/Zero was written by Gen Urobuchi. It is a prequel to the visual novels, set 10 years prior. An anime and manga adaptation of Fate/Zero were created, with the manga written by Urobuchi himself in 2011 and the anime being animated by ufotable. A second season of Fate/Zero was also produced. ufotable produced a new Fate/stay night anime based on the Unlimited Blade Works route and is producing a Fate/stay night film based on the Heaven’s Feel Route.

The first film in the anime adaptation of Fate/stay night – Heaven’s Feel, Fate/stay night – Heaven’s Feel: .presage flower, is currently out in theatres across Japan. The film be released in North America on November 3. The second film Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel – II. lost butterfly set to release in Japan in 2018.
