To celebrate 50 years of anime broadcasting on Japanese TV, NHK Radio’s anime segment: Shibuya Anime Land have held a competition to find who is the best anime heroine of all anime. This selection has been hand-picked by the staff, while the rest of the competition will be handled by the public.
It has been 50 long years since the start of anime on the silver screen. It all started with an adaptation of Osamu Tezuka’s manga, known as Tetsuwan Atom or more commonly known as Astro Boy. The anime premiered in Japan on January 1st 1963, and since then anime became a national pop culture phenomenon and recently an international success.
So, here are the 10 candidates for best anime heroine since anime has existed on TV.
