Gran Turismo 6 Pops Up On Newegg

North American online retailer Newegg has just listed a new product in their games section, Gran Turismo 6. The game is still currently available on their website and is pretty much an issued pre-order product. There are many of these situations where retailers list certain products as placeholders and have a release window on the site. While no release date is seen on the website it still plays a similar role. Then again, the game is being listed for the PlayStation 3 which seems rather odd since the Sony flagship franchise is more likely making its next game on the Sony PlayStation 4, which is expected to release during this years holidays. It could also be that Newegg does not have a PS4 section yet.

The Gran Turismo series is a long running racing simulator developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Since the first Gran Turismo in 1997, the game has become a top selling PlayStation exclusive and has sold over 68 million copies collectively. The newest game in the franchise will be Gran Turismo 6 which was confirmed to be in development back in 2011. Since then not much information has been released about the game and Sony has kept things rather hush. At the PS4 announcement earlier in the year, Sony’s Computer Entertainment Europe senior vice president Michael Denny stated that GT6 will be available for the PS3 despite the looming launch of its successor. So this post on Newegg may have more merit.

The game was also available as a pre-order item earlier today but Newegg took down the pre-order status. Also, a release date was cited with the item: November 11th 2013. Whether this is the real, expected or placeholder release date is unknown.
