Steins;Gate: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu started airing in Japanese theatres on April 20th and earned approximately ¥550 million (~ US $5.6 Million) over its initial run. The film is a sequel to the Steins;Gate television series, which was an anime adaptation of the visual novel by 5pb. and Nitroplus. Both the film and the series were produced by White Fox. The film itself follows a new original story that wasn’t in the visual novel and takes place a year after the series’ final events.
Here is a synopsis of the original series from MAL:
Steins;Gate is set in the summer of 2010, approximately one year after the events that took place in Chaos;Head, in Akihabara.
Steins;Gate is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN, who has been doing their own research on time travel, tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.
