What people thought was an elaborate April Fools joke, is a reality. It has been announced that season 2 of Choboraunyopomi’s Ai Mai Mi will be airing in July this year, via the anime’s official website. The website also released the first visual of the Summer 2014 anime.
The announcement was first made during an advertisement for the Blu-ray release of the first season where it asked the viewers if they would believe it or not. The blu ray itself will be released on May 16th and will contain all the usual bonuses.
Ai Mai Mi is a 4 koma comedy manga created by Choboraunyopomi, who also works on the Maite wa Ikenai Rozen Maiden manga. The manga began in June 2009 with a total of 3 volumes to date, and is published in Takeshobo’s Manga Life Win magazine. An anime adaptation of the series was produced in January 2013, being animated by studio Seven.
Here is a synopsis of the series from MAL:
The story follows girls in a manga club—Ai, Mai, Mii, and Ponoka-senpai—who might be fighting evil invaders threatening Earth, facing off against rivals in tournaments, and dealing with other absurd situations when they are not drawing manga.
Season 2 of Ai Mai Mi will be airing this July. More information about the series will be out in the near future. Additionally, you can view our episodic reviews of the first anime and a full review coming soon.
