Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution – New Images Surface

Since the game’s announcement in November last year, tons of new images have been released for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution. Namco Bandai Games, who will be known as Bandai Namco Games as of April 1st, released over a hundred images  for the upcoming game, with 13 images today.  Note that there are spoilers for the latest episodes of Naruto Shippuden and beyond.

First thing first are the 13 new images. Some of the images reveal gameplay, which features a completely new battle interface and what seems to be 4 characters in a battle. Which means that the game could support up to 4 players in a 2v2 battle or four player Free for All, or that there will be mini-games that support this function. Note the numbers above the health bars in some of the images and that Naruto is riding on a beam – it may be arena/mode specific.

Update Feb 8: This is a new mode called Ninja Ninja World Tournament. For more information on the new mode click here.

As for the older pics, a batch of them revolved around the revived Kages. This may be due to the fact that they were present as enemies in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, but were not unlockable characters to many fans’ disappointment. So these images are to cement the fact that they will be part of the 100+ character roster.

There are three images that showcase upcoming events that are currently not in the anime, but are of course from the manga itself. These are obviously spoilers and may blow you away.

When the game was first revealed the major focus was of Naruto and Sasuke combining their attacks (Rasenshuriken and Amaterasu) into one special attack.

And of course, one of the biggest surprises of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution to date is the Mecha Naruto. In a very bizarre turn, CyberConnect2 plays homage to old Sci-fi Mecha anime by adding in a mechanical version of Naruto, and all in its cheesy glory.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution will be the fifth game in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series and will be a sequel to Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. The games are 3D arena fighting games, and are developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Namco Bandai Games. Revolution has been confirmed to be slightly different from previous games, and could be seen as a spin-off title. The game will include over 100 characters from the entire Naruto anime and manga series. The creator of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto, designed one of the new characters – Mecha Naruto. The game will include lots of new features, such as the ability to perform “Combination Ultimate Jutsus”, having two characters combining their ultimate attacks into one. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution will continue off where the story in Ninja Storm 3 finished, as evident by some of the images above. How far the game will go into the manga is unknown.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution will be the biggest Naruto game to date. The game will be releasing on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with no mentions of a PC release (though Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 released on PC half a year later). The game will be releasing later this year in Japan. European and North American dates have not been announced yet.
