Type-Moon have provided a digital copy for the Fate/Apocrypha artbook, which contains character designs of the main characters from the light novel series. The novels themselves are written by Yuichiro Higashide (Judgement Overman – Houkago no Kessha) and illustrated by Ototsugu Konoe, who produced the character designs for the artbook. The main pages of the artbook are below, alternatively you can view the official PDF.

In addition to the digital release of the Fate/Apocrypha artbook, Type-Moon have previewed some of their stock for Comiket 87, which will take place from December 28. The first product the publisher has revealed is the 5th volume of Fate/Apocrypha. The volume itself will go on sale on the final day of the convention on December 30 for ¥1,400 (~ $14.00 USD).

Here is a synopsis of the novels from MAL:

The setting of Fate/Apocrypha is a parallel world to Fate/stay night where the Greater Grail was removed from Fuyuki after the Third Holy Grail War and disappeared for many years. Around the 2000s, around the same time as the Fifth Holy Grail War would have happened, the group that plundered the Grail, Yggdmillennia, openly declares their secession from the Mage’s Association and that they are in possession of the Grail. The Association dispatches fifty magi to retrieve it, but all but one are instantly slaughtered by Lancer of Black. The one remaining manages to activate the reserve system of the Greater Grail, allowing for the summoning of fourteen Servants in total.

This marks the start of the Great Holy Grail War in Trifas, featuring two different factions, the Black Faction, whose members are part of Yggdramillennia, and the Red Faction, whose members were sent by the Mage’s Association with the exception of one from the Church. The Grail itself also summons Ruler to act as a mediator of the Holy Grail War.

“In a way, you could say that the modern magus is in the business of gathering angels.”

The detached castle Adra. Like a lone living being, it is a demon castle created by magi who were fascinated with angels. The ruler (Lord) of modern thaumaturgy at the Clock Tower, El-Melloi II, gets caught up in a battle for succession over the detached castle. The interior of the castle is adorned with many angels. Only those who have unraveled the mysteries of the Angel Names granted them are invited to inherit the detached castle. However, it was no simple solution to a riddle. To the high-ranking magi of the Clock Tower, it was the beginning of an excessively fantastic tragedy–.

Now, the curtain rises on the “Lord El-Melloi II Case Files”, which blends riddles and illusions, thaumaturgy and mysteries.

Here is a synopsis of the series from MAL:

After the end of the third Grail War, a group of magi separate from the London based Mage Association decided that they would copy the ritual. They only managed to copy part of the ritual, which lead to the loss of the Saber class and further loss of the definition of a “Hero.” The magi eventually infiltrated the U.S. Government and for two hundred years manipulated events in Snowfield, California to replicate the Sacred Land needed to generate a Grail.
