It has been a couple years since the release of the last Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica film, Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica: Rebellion (Puella Magi Madoka Magica Movie 3: Rebellion). Whilst many fans of the series have seen the end product and enjoying it, how about we take a look at one of the behind the scenes aspect for the movie? It is quite a complex film after all.
The first volume of production notes for the movie has been shared online by Reddit user homu. There are two books totalling 352 pages that have all the material drawn and produced leading up to the production of the movie. Things like concept art, rough sketches, detailed colourings and characters, are all showcased. The production notes itself was released earlier this year for ¥ 6,000 (~ $48.40 USD).

Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica (Puella Magi Madoka Magica) is an original anime series that aired in 2011. The series was produced by Shaft (Bakemonogatari, Nisekoi), and was directed by Akiyuki Shinbo (Bakemonogatari). The series was written by Gen Urobuchi (Fate/zero, Aldnoah.Zero) and the character designs were done by Ume Aoki and Takahiro Kishida. The series received great reception breaking Blu ray sale records, where the franchise has grossed over ¥40 Billion to date. The series was also live streamed on Niconico where over 1 million people watched the series. In addition to the TV series, a trilogy of movies were also released. The first two films recapped the anime series and the final movie, Rebellion, had an original story set after the anime.
