The first volume of the Angel Beats! visual novel, Angel Beats!-1st Beat-, released in Japan two weeks ago. A month before the game was to release, various stores were offering special “benefits” for gamers who pre-ordered at these stores. One of the bonuses, is a lot more lewd that expected.
There was a preview of the bonuses that customers would get from pre-ordering the game. A total of 8 stores offered unique posters and tapestry as bonuses. The one at Anibro featured a special tapestry of Kanade in a swimming tube:
The actual tapestry itself is actually more detailed and detailed than the preview leads on. So here it is:

Here are the bonuses from the other retailers:
- If you order the game from Sofmap, you get two posters: one of Kanade Tachibana and one of her clones in their undergarments on the bed, and the second poster is of Yui in her undergarments.
- Getting the game early from Getchu.com will reward you with this long poster of Masami Iwasawa with her guitar:
- Pre-ordering Angel Beats!-1st Beat- from Medio will grant you a poster of Yui cooking in nothing more than an apron:
- Melon Books customers will receive this saucy poster of Yuri Nakamura taking a bath with her rubber duck:
- Ordering the game via Toranoana’s mail order service will nab you this poster of Yuri at the beach with her bra off:
- Ordering the game from Ampnet will reward you with a poster of Masami with an open shirt listening to music:
- The final store offering a unique poster is Animate’s online shop, which will provide early customers with this poster of Kanade being barely covered in Otonashi’s blazer:
Angel Beats!-1st Beat- covers three character arcs and reportedly reaches up to the 10th episode of the anime. The three characters that will be focused on in -1st Beat- are Iwasawa’s, Matsushita’s and Yui’s routes. In the Angel Beats! VN you will play as Yuzuru Otonashi, the main character from the anime. The event also revealed that the visual novel will feature the retain of the same voice actors and voice actresses from the anime. The main theme of the visual novel will be Heartily Song sung by Lia, who also performed the Opening theme of the original anime. The song will also be written and composed by Jun Maeda.

Angel Beats! is a series created by Jun Maeda, which started off as a light novel series in 2009 that ran for half a year in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki G’s Magazine. A 4-koma manga series was also created by Maeda that ran in the same magazine in the same year. In 2010, an anime adaptation was created by P.A. Works (Hanasaku Iroha, Another), which was also written by Maeda himself and directed by. The series received high praise and gained popularity, but was criticised for the lack of character development for many stories. A manga was adapted in 2010 titled Angel Beats! Heaven’s Door, which is an adaptation of the prequel light novel Angel Beats! Track Zero. Jun Maeda and Key, who are known for producing acclaimed and popular visual novels, announced that they were producing a visual novel on Angel Beats!, expanding many of the character’s backstory. Angel Beats! -1st Beat- and its subsequent releases, will be written by Jun Maeda. A mobile game based on the series was also produced. The series will also be receiving a Blu-ray box-set containing a new OVA.
Here is a synopsis of the series from MAL:
Otonashi awakens only to learn he is dead. A rifle-toting girl named Yuri explains that they are in the afterlife, and Otonashi realizes the only thing he can remember about himself is his name. Yuri tells him that she leads the Shinda Sekai Sensen (Afterlife Battlefront) and wages war against a girl named Tenshi. Unable to believe Yuri’s claims that Tenshi is evil, Otonashi attempts to speak with her, but the encounter doesn’t go as he intended.
Otonashi decides to join the SSS and battle Tenshi, but he finds himself oddly drawn to her. While trying to regain his memories and understand Tenshi, he gradually unravels the mysteries of the afterlife.
Angel Beats!-1st Beat- released on Windows Vista, 7 and 8 in Japan on May 29th. A Blu-ray box set of the anime series will also be released this year on June 24 and will come with a new OVA.
