Japanese talent agency 81 Produce has regretfully announced that voice actress and singer Miyu Matsuki has passed away at age 38 on the 27th of October. She passed away due to an illness.
Matsuki herself revealed on Twitter earlier in July that she would be taking a break from voice acting to help treat her pneumonia, after suffering from a fever since the start of the year. After various checkups she was eventually diagnosed with acute pneumonia. It is unknown whether or not that pneumonia was linked to her passing away.
Matsuki has starred in many anime voicing characters and singing the main themes of the various Haiyore! Nyaruko-san anime. Her credited voice roles include:
- Cthuko in Haiyore! Nyaruko-san
- Kumi Tanaka from Yurumates
- Hisui in Carnival Phantasm
- Magical Sapphire from Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya
- Isumi Saginomiya in Hayate no Gotoku!
- Yoshinoya in Hidamari Sketch
Her most recent role includes Anna Nishikinomiya from Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai.
Matsuki was revealed to be voicing Charlotte Dimandias in the upcoming anime adaptation of Jun Misaki and Nekosuke Okuma’s Hundred light novel series. Not further details about the anime have been revealed outside of its announcement.
Many fellow Japanese voice actors and voice actresses have expressed their reactions on Twitter regarding the sad news:
