Get ready for some moe console wars on PC as Japanese publisher Idea Factory has recently released a PC port of Compile Heart’s PlayStation Vita title Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 onto Valve’s digital platform Steam, being the series’ and company’s first game on PC.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 is a remake of the original Hyperdimension Neptunia JRPG that released in 2010 for the PlayStation 3. It was developed by Idea Factory and Compile Heart and was localised by NIS America and Tecmo Koei in the following year. The remake has many new improved gameplay mechanics and visuals, including: a more well structured plot, reworked music, new characters (whilst some characters have been removed), better performance and new dungeons. The remake originally released on the Vita in Japan in October 2013 and in Europe and North America last summer.
Over the Vita version, the Steam release sees all of the models and environments in HD. Though despite this, many users have been citing various issues with the port including crashes, DLC not working, and the game not even starting. The PC release is available worldwide, even in Japan where previous recent PC ports of their console exclusives were only available outside of the region.

Hyperdimension Neptunia is a video game series developed by Compile Heart and Idea Factory. The games are JRPGs based around console wars, and their companies – Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. The first game in the series released on the PlayStation 3 in 2010. The games have had many sequels and spin-offs since the first game, and even a manga and anime adaptation. Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation was produced by David Production and aired in July 2013. The latest game in the series to release in Japan was Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2: Sisters Generation, a remake of the second game in the series. There are two additional upcoming games for the Vita: a tactical RPG titled Hyper Goddess Faith Noir: Extreme God Black Heart, and the English release of the idol management game titled Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia PP. The games will release on May 29th, and later in 2014 respectively.
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 is currently out now on Steam, as well as Vita, and is currently on sale for a massive 50% off, with $14.99 USD, £11.49, and 13.99€.
