The official website of the TV anime adaptation of Nisio Isin and Vofan’s Monogatari light novel has been updated with new information about the upcoming Owarimonogatari anime. The series itself will begin its broadcast from October 4th, in addition to the reveal of the first visual and promotional video.
The first episode of the Owarimonogatari anime starts on the midnight of Sunday, October 4th on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV and on GTV. The series will also air on Chiba TV at 1:00am JST, on TVK at 1:30am JST, on TV Saitama at 1:30am JST, on TV Aichi at 2:05am JST, and on MBS at 2:30am JST, all on Wednesday, October 7th.
The site has also revealed some information about the anime’s format. The TV anime at the moment will currently cover the first two volumes in Owarimonogatari, which includes Ougi Formula, Sodachi Riddle, Sodachi Lost and Shinobu Mail. The final volume, which has Mayoi Hell, Hitagi Rendezvous and Ougi Dark, is already planned and scripted, but will not be produced into anime until a later date. It has also announced that an anime of Koyomimonogatari is currently in planning.

The main cast of the Owarimonogatari anime have been revealed, which introduces one brand new character:
- Hiroshi Kamiya (Izaya Orihara from Durarara!!) returns to voice Koyomi Araragi
- Kaori Mizuhashi (Miyako in Hidamari Sketch) is back as Ougi Oshino
- Marina Inoue (Laura Bodewig from IS: Infinite Stratos) joins the cast to voice Sodachi-Oikura

The Owarimonogatari story itself is comprised of three volumes and is part of the final season in Monogatari as volumes 15, 16 and 17. The first volume (Oct 2013) contained the Ougi Formula, Sodachi Riddle, and Sodachi Lost story arcs. The second volume (Jan 2014) has Shinobu Mail, and the final volume (April 2014) shipped with Mayoi Hell, Hitagi Rendezvous, and Ougi Dark.
There will also be a pre-screening event of the first episode of the anime on September 26th and the 27th. There will be three sessions: the 2:00pm JST, 4:00pm JST, and the 6:00pm JST. The event will be held in Tokyo; no guests have been announced to attend.
The Monogatari series is a collection of light novels, created by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Vofan. The novels started in late 2005 and published under Kodansha’s Box imprint, where there has been a total of 16 volumes to date. The 17th volume will release on April 3rd, and the 18th and final volume releasing later this year. The light novels first received an anime adaptation titled Bakemonogatari, after the first volume, in 2009 from the animation studio Shaft (Nisekoi, Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica). Since then a total of 12 novels has been animated by the same studio. The most recent adaptation, Tsukimonogatari, aired on New Years In addition, a drama CD, a PlayStation Portable game and many figures and figurines have been made based on the series. The final book of the Monogatari series, Zokuowarimonogatari, released on September 17th last year.
Here is a synopsis of the first series:
Koyomi Araragi, a third year high school student who is almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire. One day, a classmate named Hitagi Senjōgahara, who infamously never talks to anyone, falls down the stairs into Koyomi’s arms. He discovers that Hitagi weighs next to nothing, in defiance of physics. Despite being threatened by her, Koyomi offers his help, and introduces her to Meme Oshino, a middle-aged homeless man who helped him stop being a vampire.
The Owarimonogatari anime will air every Sunday from October 4th at 12:00am JST on Tokyo MX, during the upcoming Fall/Autumn anime season. Further information about the series will be revealed soon.
