Akiba’s Trip TV Anime Adaptation Announced for January 2017

At today’s DMM Games stage event at the 2016 Tokyo Game Show, the staff announced that Acquire’s Akiba’s Trip series of games will be receiving a TV anime adaptation for January 2017.

The official website of the anime has launched revealing that the adaptation will be titled Akiba’s Trip: The Animation. The anime will air this upcoming January on Tokyo MX, BS Fuji, and AT-X.

The first members of the anime’s staff were also revealed and includes:

  • Director: Hiroshi Ikehata (Robot Girls Z, Sore ga Seiyuu!)
  • Series Composer: Kazuho Hyodo (Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Himegoto)
  • Anime Character Designer: Hajime Mitsuda (Steins;Gate and Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo Key Animator)
  • Animation Studio: Gonzo (Welcome to the NHK, Rosario to Vampire)

Akiba’s Trip is a series of Japanese Action RPGs developed and published by Acquire. The first game, Akiba’s Trip, released on the PlayStation Portable on May 19th 2011 in Japan, with an updated version titled Akiba’s Trip PLUS releasing in June 2012.The game is set in a recreated setting of Akihabara, with many shops and stores being identical with the real district. The game is an action adventure game where players must strip vampire-like enemies so their skin is revealed to the sunlight. The player can also romance various female characters. Akiba’s Trip 2 released on the PS3 and Vita in Japan in November 2013. An international release of the second game was produced in late 2014 under Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed. It was published by XSEED games in North America and by NIS America in Europe. A third game, titled Akiba’s Trip Festa, is in production for a late 2016 release.

A TV anime adaptation of Akiba’s Trip, titled Akiba’s Trip: The Animation, is in production and will air in January 2017, during the Winter 2016/2017 anime season. Further information will be revealed at a later date.
