Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen Visual Revealed

The first visual of Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen, the second film of the anime adaptation of Nisio Isin and Vofan’s Kizumonogatari entry in the Monogatari light novel series, has been revealed at the premiere screening of the first film, Kizumonogatari I Tekketsu-hen, which released in Japan on January 8th.

The second film will be released in the Summer 2016 anime season, which generally lasts from July – September. The first film, Kizumonogatari I Tekketsu-hen, released in Japan on January 8th and is listed at 60 minutes. In addition, the first film will be available in select cinemas in USA from February 26.

The main cast of the anime films include:

There will be three anime films for Kizumonogatari. The first film will be titled Kizumonogatari I Tekketsu-hen (Kizumonogatari I: Blood and Iron) and will release in Japan on January 8 in Toho Theatres across the nation. The second film will be titled Kizumonogatari II Nekketsu-hen (Kizumonogatari II: Passionate Blood) with the third and final movie being Kizumonogatari III Reiketsu-hen (Kizumonogatari III: Cold Blood). The release date of the two other films have yet to be revealed.

The production staff of the Monogatari anime adaptations will also return to produce the movies:

Kizumonogatari itself is the third novel in the series set before Bakemonogatari and features the story arc Koyomi Vamp. Here is the synopsis for Kizumonogatari:

“I think it’s about time I talked about Kiss-Shot-Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade. I believe it’s something I have to do. I met her in the spring break between my second and third years of high school. That meeting had such impact and was also quite devastating.”

The Monogatari series is a collection of light novels, created by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Vofan. The novels started in late 2005 and published under Kodansha’s Box imprint, where there has been a total of 16 volumes to date. The 17th volume will release on April 3rd, and the 18th and final volume releasing later this year. The light novels first received an anime adaptation titled Bakemonogatari, after the first volume, in 2009 from the animation studio Shaft (NisekoiMahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica). Since then a total of 12 novels has been animated by the same studio. The most recent adaptation, Tsukimonogatari, aired on New Years In addition, a drama CD, a PlayStation Portable game and many figures and figurines have been made based on the series. The final book of the Monogatari series, Zokuowarimonogatari, released on September 17th last year.

Here is a synopsis of the first series:

Koyomi Araragi, a third year high school student who is almost human again after briefly becoming a vampire. One day, a classmate named Hitagi Senjōgahara, who infamously never talks to anyone, falls down the stairs into Koyomi’s arms. He discovers that Hitagi weighs next to nothing, in defiance of physics. Despite being threatened by her, Koyomi offers his help, and introduces her to Meme Oshino, a middle-aged homeless man who helped him stop being a vampire.

There will be three films for the Kizumonogatari anime with the second film, Kizumonogatari II: Nekketsu-hen, releasing in Japan in Summer 2016. The first film, Kizumonogatari I Tekketsu-hen, is currently out in Japanese theatres and will be released in North America from February 26.
