Monster Hunter: World Announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One & PC for Early 2018

At Sony’s press conference at E3 2017, a surprise announcement for a new title in Capcom’s Monster Hunter series was revealed: Monster Hunter: World. The title will be coming out on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide in early 2018, with a PC release later on.

Here is the game’s announcement trailer, showing off the visuals, new monsters, location and gameplay mechanics:

The game will be the first in the series to release internationally on the current generation consoles (with the exception of Monster Hunter Frontier) and will be the first official title on the PC (outside of Monster Hunter Online). The game incorporates a seamless gameplay experience allowing players to move freely across map areas in up to 4 player Co-op action.

Monster Hunter is one of Japan’s most popular franchises. The series started in 2004 on the PlayStation 2, and has since been on the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Wii U and the PC. To date, the entire franchise has sold over 28 million copies, with the latest Japanese instalment being Monster Hunter XX for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016, an upgraded release of 2015’s Monster Hunter X, selling over 1.7 Million copies in Japan. The most recent game to release internationally was Monster Hunter Generations for the 3DS, the localisation of Monster Hunter X. A port of Monster Hunter XX was announced for the Nintendo Switch coming to Japan on August 25th.

A brand new Monster Hunter title has been announced for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on PC. The console release will be out in early 2018, with the PC version following soon after.
