The official website of the anime adaptation of Kyousuke Kamishiro and Takayaki’s Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Moto Kano Datta (My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex) has revealed that the series will premiere on July 6th. In addition, a brand new commercial has also been released.
The Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Moto Kano Datta anime will have its televised debut on Wednesday, July 6th at 9:00 pm JST on ATX. The anime will also air at midnight on Tokyo MX, and on BS TV on the 10th at 12:30 am JST.
A brand new commercial was released, which introduces the main characters and also previews the Opening theme song, Deneb to Spica by DIALOGUE+:
The main cast of the upcoming anime has been released with their associated character designs:
- Rina Hidaka (Airi Kashii in Ro-Kyu-Bu!) will lead the cast as Yume Irido
- Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu Agatsuma in Demon Slayer) as Mizuto Irido
- Ikumi Hasegawa (Vladilena Milize from 86) joins the cast to voice Akatsuki Minami
- Nobuhiko Okamoto (Katsuki Bakugou in Boku no Hero Academia) as Kogure Kawanami
- Miyu Tomita (Umaru Doma in Himouto! Umaru-chan) as Isana Higashira

Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Moto Kano Datta (My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex) is a romantic comedy light novel series written by Kyousuke Kamishiro with illustrations from Takayaki. The series began in 2017 as an online novel on the Kakuyomu website. In late 2018 the series began serialization by Kadokawa Shoten under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint. To date, a total of 8 volumes have been published. The series also received a manga adaptation in mid-2019 from Rei Kusakabe.
Here is the synopsis from MAL:
A certain boy and girl in middle school became lovers, flirted with each other, disagreed on trivial things, became more frequently irritated with each other rather than excited… and ended up breaking up on graduation. And so the two of them, Mizuto Irido and Yume Ayai, wound up meeting each other in the most unexpected fashion.

The Mamahaha no Tsurego ga Moto Kano Datta anime will air every Wednesday on ATX at 9:00 pm JST from July 6, during the Summer 2022 anime season.
