A promotional video of RWBY was also produced for Comiket 86 where a physical release of the series was sold :

The RWBY series was created by the late Monty Oum that was first released in 2013. RWBY is an action, fantasy online animated web series animated and created by Monty, which has major influences from anime, as he was an avid anime fan. The show became a hit with a dedicated fan base. Two season, totalling 28 episodes, were produced of the series before Monty passed away earlier this year. A third season of the series is currently in production. Monty was a well known animator working on various fan films on Youtube before being hired by Rooster Teeth. At the company he worked on the choreography and animation for the company’s most well known series Red vs Blue, before the creation of RWBY.

Here is the synopsis of the series from Crunchyroll:

The story focuses on a group of four girls in their first year at a legendary academy where they will learn to fight monsters.
