Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito OVA 3 Release Date, Cast, Visual & Promotional Video Revealed

The official website of the Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito (Code Geass: Akito the Exiled) OVA series has updated with new information of the upcoming third instalment. The third anime, titled Kagayaku Mono Ten yori Otsu (The Brightness Falls), will release in Japanese theatres on May 2nd next year. The site also reveals that the 4th OVA releasing on July 4th. Additionally, the first visual and promotional video for the 3rd OVA were also revealed.


The main cast and staff have been announced for Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito 3 Kagayaku Mono Ten yori Otsu. The characters will return to reprise their roles and includes:

  • Miyu Irino (Jinta Yadomi from AnoHana) returning to voice Akito Hyuuga



  • Maaya Sakamoto (Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell) will be back as Leila Malkal



  • Satoshi Hino (Yuuji Sakai in Shakugan no Shana) will voice Ryo Sayama



  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito in Sword Art Online) as Yukiya Naruse



  • Yoko Hikasa (Mio Akiyama in K-ON!) voicing as Ayano Kosaka



  • Masaya Matsukaze (Teru Mikami from Death Note) will be back as Shin Hyuuga Shaing


  • Takuma Terashima (Shiroe from Log Horizon) will voice Ashley Ashura


  • Mariya Ise (Stocking Anarchy from Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) voicing as Jean Lowe


The site has also revealed new characters for the OVA series with some familiar faces from the Code Geass anime:

  • Jun Fukuyama (Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch) will be voicing the mysterious Julius Kingsley


  • Takahiro Sakurai (Shougo Makishima in Psycho-Pass) will be back to reprise his role as Suzaku Kururugi
  • Yukana (Cecilia Alcott from IS: Infinite Stratos) will be back as C.C.

The staff that will be producing the anime will also return from previous instalments and includes:

  • CGI Animation Directors: Inomoto Eiji (Ghost in the Shell: Arise, IS: Infinite Stratos) and Sato Gochu (Debut Role)
  • Art Director: Takeshi Satou (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
  • Sound Director: Jin Aketagawa (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, No Game, No Life)
  • Music Composer: Ichiko Hashimoto (RahXephon)
  • Animation Studio: Sunrise (Gintama, Love Live! School Idol Project)

Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito (Code Geass: Akito the Exiled) is an OVA series set in the same world as the 2006 anime Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch. A series of 4 OVAs have been announced and are set between the first and second season of the anime. The first OVA, Yokuryuu wa Maiorita (The Wyvern Arrives) released in Japanese theatres in July 2012 and the second OVA releasing in September the following year. The OVAs are directed by Kazuki Akane (Tetsuwan Birdy Decode: The CipherTenku no Escaflowne) and are produced by Sunrise (GintamaLove Live! School Idol Project) with the original character designs by CLAMP (xxxHOLiC, Cardcaptor Sakura), both of which produced the original anime series.

Here is a synopsis of Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito from MAL:

The story takes place in Europe in the year a.t.b. 2017. A Knightmare unit made of boys and girls from Area Eleven are thrown into a military operation with a 5% chance of survival. They must rescue an allied unit left behind on the European warfront.


Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito 3 – Kagayaku Mono Ten yori Otsu will be releasing in Japanese theatres on May 2nd next year. The site has also revealed that the 4th OVA will release on July 4th. More information about the 3rd and 4th OVAs will release soon.
