This year marks the 10th anniversary of Kagami Yoshimizu’s manga Lucky☆Star and in celebration for the series, Yoshimizu has announced that he will be releasing a special art book of the manga that will release next year. In addition, the manga itself will return on November 10th.
To celebrate 10 years of the series, Yoshimizu will be releasing a massive art book for the series. The book will contain over 200 sketches, illustrations, guest art, and numerous designs. The Yoshimizu Lucky☆Star Art Book will be releasing in Japan on March 26th next year and will cost ¥2,520 (~ $25.20 USD). Despite being the series’ 10th anniversary, Yoshimizu has halted the Lucky☆Star manga in May this year to work on personal projects. The manga will return to be published in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comptiq magazine on November 10th in the magazine’s December issue.
Lucky☆Star is a 4-koma manga written and illustration by Kagami Yoshimizu. The series began serialization in 2004 in Kadokawa Shoten’s Comptiq magazine. To date a total of 10 volumes have been compiled. Since its release the series has been a major hit in Japan selling over 1.8 million copies as of 2008. The manga has received numerous light novel and video game adaptations, as well as an anime adaptation in 2007. The anime was produced by Kyoto Animation (K-ON!, Free!) and directed by Yutaka Yamamoto (Senyuu, Wake Up, Girls!) and Yasuhiro Takemoto (Hyouka, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya). The series has also received many spin-off manga, including Yoshimizu’s Miyakawa-ke no Kuufuku, which also received an anime adaptation last year.
