Summer 2014 Anime Episode Counts

The Summer 2014 anime season is also over. Well, for quite a few series it is already over. Not all anime will be running till the end of the month, some ending this week or even the next. To keep up to date with all the anime series and when they will end we have compiled a list of the episode counts of the major anime this season.

 

Akame ga Kill! – 24 Episodes (2 cour)

Akame ga Kill! is a 2 cour series with 12 episodes per cour/season. Episode 12 is scheduled to air on Sunday, 21st of September at 11:59pm JST on Tokyo MX. There will be a week break before the series will continue airing into the Fall/Autumn 2014 anime season. Episode 24 is scheduled to air in November.

Synopsis:

In a fantasy world, fighter Tatsumi sets out for the Capitol to earn money for his starving village, and finds a world of unimaginable corruption, all spreading from the depraved Prime Minister who controls the child Emperor’s ear. After nearly becoming a victim of this corruption himself, Tatsumi is recruited by Night Raid, a group of assassins dedicated to eliminating the corruption plaguing the Capitol by mercilessly killing those responsible.

 

Aldnoah.Zero – 24 Episodes (Split Cour)

Aldnoah.Zero will be a split cour anime with 12 episodes airing this season and 12 episodes airing in Winter 2014/2015. Episode 12 is scheduled to release on Saturday, 20th of September at 11:59pm JST on BS11.

Synopsis:

In 1972, the Apollo 17 mission found a hypergate to Mars on the surface of the moon. Upon landing, astronauts discovered a enchanted utility later referred to as ‘Aldnoah’, giving the astronauts a status of superiority. Soon, many humans have relocated to Mars, and have adapted to the name ‘Martians’. After Princess Asseylum, a royal Martian princess, descends onto Earth in an attempt to create a treaty between both planets, a war breaks out between Earth and Mars, and Martian soldiers begin to descend from the sky, riding steel giants, intent on exterminating humanity.

 

Ao Haru Ride – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Monday, 22nd of September at 11:59pm JST on Tokyo MX.

Synopsis:

Yoshioka Futaba has a few reasons why she wants to “reset” her image & life as a new high school student. Because she’s cute, she was ostracized by her female friends in junior high, and because of a misunderstanding, she couldn’t get her feeling across to the one boy she has ever liked, Tanaka-kun.

Now in high school, she is determined to be as unladylike as possible so that her friends won’t be jealous of her. While living her life this way contentedly, she meets Tanaka-kun again, but he now goes under the name of Mabuchi Kou. He tells her that he felt the same way as she did when they were younger, but now things can never be the same again. Will Futaba be able to continue her love that never even started from three years ago?

 

Bakumatsu Rock – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Wednesday, 17th of September at 11:30pm JST on Tokyo MX.

Synopsis:

The story is set in the Bakumatsu era, at the end of the shoguns’ rule over Japan in the middle of the 19th century. The Tokugawa shogunate uses the brainwashing Heaven’s Songs by the top idols in Shinsengumi to subjugate the country and its people. In this Japan, writing or singing any songs besides the Heaven’s Songs is a capital offense. Sakamoto Ryouma and the other rockers rise up and change the world with rock ‘n’ roll for freedom and justice.

 

Barakamon –  12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Sunday, 21st of September at 2:20am JST on Nippon TV.

Synopsis:

As a punishment for punching a famous calligrapher, young handsome calligrapher Handa Seishu is exiled to a small island. As someone who has never lived outside of a city, Handa has to adapt to his new wacky neighbors, like people traveling on a tractor, unwanted visitors who never use the front door, annoying kids using his home as a playground, etc. Can this city guy handle all the crazy hardships? Find out in this wacky island comedy full of innocence and laughter!

 

Black Butler: Book of Circus – 10 Episodes (Finished)

Black Butler: Book of Circus finished last week. Episode 10 aired on Friday, 12th of September at 2:19am JST on MBS.

Synopsis:

In Victorian London, the breathtaking performances of the Noah’s Ark Circus have captured the attention of people all across the city. But the spell of magic and wonderment woven under the big top is not without consequences. Children have suddenly begun to vanish, and some suspect these mysterious performers are responsible. In an attempt to get to the bottom of these disturbing disappearances, the dashing duo of demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis, and his young master, Ciel Phantomhive, will infiltrate the circus and uncover whatever darkness may lie at its core!

 

Free!: Eternal Summer – 13 Episodes

Episode 13 scheduled to air on Wednesday, 17th of September at 11:59pm JST on Tokyo MX.

Synopsis:

The Iwatobi Swim Club returns! As their third year begins, Haruka, Makoto and Rin are still swimming strong, but choosing plans for their futures loom, and as friends both new and old make their way into the picture, rivalries will take root once again. Will the team make it out stronger than before or sink under pressure?

 

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Monday, 22nd of September at 1:05am JST on TV Tokyo.

Synopsis:

High school student Chiyo Sakura has a crush on schoolmate Umetarou Nozaki, but when she confesses her love to him, he mistakes her for a fan and gives her an autograph. When she says that she always wants to be with him, he invites her to his house and has her help on some drawings. Chiyo discovers that Nozaki is actually a renowned shoujo manga artist named Sakiko Yumeno. She then agrees to be his assistant in order to get closer to him. As they work on his manga, they encounter other schoolmates who assist them or serve as inspirations for characters in the stories.

 

Glasslip – 13 Episodes

Episode 13 scheduled to air on Thursday, 18th of September at 10:30pm JST on Tokyo MX.

Synopsis:

The daughter of a glass artisan family, Fukami Touko, spends relaxed days at a cafe called “Kazemichi” at a friend’s house. On the summer vacation of her third year in high school. In front of them appeared a transfer student boy: Okikura Kakeru. He told Touko that he can hear the voices of the future. If someone knew in advance what their future would look like, what would they wish for? While feeling never-before-felt tremors in herself, Touko realises that she has started getting a feeling in her heart which she can’t leave alone…

 

Hanayamata – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Tuesday, 23rd of September at 1:53am JST on TV Tokyo.

Synopsis:

Normal appearance, normal intelligence, normal in arts and sports… just normal. This is the entirely normal 14-year-old, Naru Sekiya. While she admires “Heroines” she continues to live a normal life until one moonlit night she meets a fairy. This foreign girl then guides her into the extraordinary world of the yosakoi dance.

 

Jinsei – 13 Episodes

Episode 13 scheduled to air on Sunday, 21st of September at 10:0pm JST on Tokyo MX.

Synopsis:

Yuuki Akamatsu, who is in the Kyuumon Gakuen Second News Club, is asked to become the counselor of the club immediately after joining the club by Ayaka Nikaidou, the club leader. Three girls currently give advice to issues sent in by the students: Rino Endou from the science stream, Fumi Kujou from the literary stream, and Ikumi Suzuki from the sports stream. However, the three always have different opinions and cannot get their views to agree, so they just try things out anyway…

 

Momo Kyun Sword – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Wednesday, 24th of September at 12:30am JST on Tokyo MX.

Synopsis:

Momoko is a beautiful young sword fighter who was born inside a peach (momo in Japanese). She lives with her constant companions—the dog god Inugami, the monkey god Sarugami, and the pheasant god Kijigami—in a peaceful paradise. However, a demon army led by devil king invades the paradise and steals the precious treasure that protects Momoko’s land. To retrieve the treasure and save the people, Momoko embarks on a great adventure with her three companions.

 

Persona 4 The Golden Animation – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Friday, 26th of September at 1:49am JST on MBS.

Synopsis:

Adaptation of Persona 4’s remake video game, Persona 4 The Golden. The story retells the events of the original while featuring a new character, Marie.

 

Rail Wars! – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Friday, 19th of September at 01:46am on TBS.

Synopsis:

The “dream railway paradise entertainment” story is set in a parallel world where Japan did not privatize its national railways. Naohito Takayama is an ordinary high school boy who dreams of a comfortable future working for the top-rated Japanese National Railways. He is assigned as a trainee in the Railways Security Force full of odd characters such as Sakurai, a troublemaker who hates men. On top of that, an extremist group called “RJ” plots to privatize the Japanese National Railways.

 

Sailor Moon Crystal – 24 Episodes (Special)

Sailor Moon Crystal does not follow traditional Japanese Television Production schedules. The episodes will air twice a month until Spring 2015. Episode 24 is scheduled to air in June 2015.

Synopsis:

Usagi Tsukino is a second-year middle school girl who is a little clumsy and a crybaby, but she is full of energy. One day, she meets Luna, a black cat with a crescent moon on her forehead, and she transforms into Sailor Moon, a sailor-uniformed pretty guardian of love and justice! As a chosen guardian of justice, Usagi seems to have a mission to find the Illusionary Silver Crystal with the other guardians and to protect the princess.

Meanwhile, the queen of the Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl, also sends minions to the town where Usagi lives to obtain the Illusionary Silver Crystal, which has immense power. This causes strange events to unfold…

Can Sailor Moon really find the Illusionary Silver Crystal with the other Sailor guardians, and protect the princess…?!

 

Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Monday, 29th of September at 10:30pm JST on AT-X.

Synopsis:

Only a pure maiden can have the privilege to contract with a spirit. In here, Areishia Spirit Academy, trained maidens of noble families are gathered and given an elite’s education to become spirit contractors. A boy, Kamito, peeped by accident at a girl, Clair, while she was taking a bath and he ended up making a contract with the spirit she wanted. Yes, Kamito is an irregular boy spirit contractor whose existence was thought impossible until now. “You stole…my spirit…you have to take responsibility for it!” “Huh?” “You have to become my contracted spirit!” What will Kamito’s destiny lead to?

 

Sengoku Basara: Judge End – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Sunday, 21st of September at 10:0pm JST on Nippon TV.

Synopsis:

Based on CAPCOM’s 2010 game Sengoku Basara 3 (Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes), Sengoku Basara: Judge End will depict the epic Battle of Sekigahara.

 

Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen – 24 Episodes (2 cour)

Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen is a 2 cour series with 12 episodes per cour/season. Episode 12 is scheduled to air on Thursday, 18th of September at 11:00pm JST on Tokyo MX. There will be a week break before the series will continue airing into the Fall/Autumn 2014 anime season. Episode 24 is scheduled to air in November.

Synopsis:

The Kingdom of Arandas Alliance and the Countries Unification of Ingelmia have been at war for many years. The situation has been at a stalemate across the fortress of the Great Wall, which has never been penetrated since the foundation of Arandas. The gate to the fortress has remained firmly closed, but when it creaks open, the complexity of war starts to change dramatically.

 

Sword Art Online II – 24 Episodes (2 cour)

Sword Art Online II is a 2 cour series with 12 episodes per cour/season. Episode 12 scheduled to air on Saturday, 27th of September at 11:30pm JST on Tokyo MX. There will be a week break before the series will continue airing into the Fall/Autumn 2014 anime season. Episode 24 is scheduled to air in November.

Synopsis:

One year after the SAO incident, Kirito is approached by Seijiro Kikuoka from Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Department “VR Division” with a rather peculiar request.

That was an investigation on the “Death Gun” incident that occurred in the gun and steel filled VRMMO called Gun Gale Online (GGO). “Players who are shot by a mysterious avatar with a jet black gun lose their lives even in the real world…” Failing to turn down Kikuoka’s bizarre request, Kirito logs in to GGO even though he is not completely convinced that the virtual world could physically affect the real world.

Kirito wanders in an unfamiliar world in order to gain any clues about the “Death Gun.” Then, a female sniper named Sinon who owns a gigantic “Hecate II” rifle extends Kirito a helping hand. With Sinon’s help, Kirito decides to enter the “Bullet of Bullets,” a large tournament to choose the most powerful gunner within the realm of GGO, in hopes to become the target of the “Death Gun” and make direct contact with the mysterious avatar.

 

Tokyo Ghoul – 12 Episodes

Episode 12 scheduled to air on Thursday, 18th of September at 11:59pm JST on Tokyo MX.

Synopsis:

The suspense horror/dark fantasy story is set in Tokyo, which is haunted by mysterious “ghouls” who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realize that his fate will change overnight.

 

Zankyou no Terror – 11 Episodes

Episode 8 of Zankyou no Terror was delayed, pushing all episodes back by a week. Episode 11 scheduled to air on Friday, 19th of September at 12:50am JST on Fuji TV.

Synopsis:

In an alternate version of the present, Tokyo has been decimated by a shocking terrorist attack, and the only hint to the identity of the culprit is a bizarre video uploaded to the internet. The police, baffled by this cryptic clue, are powerless to stop the paranoia spreading across the population.

While the world searches for a criminal mastermind to blame for this tragedy, two mysterious children—children who shouldn’t even exist—masterfully carry out their heinous plan. Cursed to walk through this world with the names Nine and Twelve, the two combine to form “Sphinx,” a clandestine entity determine to wake the people from their slumber—and pull the trigger on this world.
