Animation studio A1-Pictures had a countdown on a mysterious website and with the countdown over the studio has revealed their next anime feature film, Glass no Hana to Kowasu Sekai (Vitreous Flower Destroy the World). The announcement also comes with the film’s first visual and staff members.
The film itself will be an adaptation of D.backup, a short anime film written and illustrated by Physics Point, which was produced in June 2013. The short film itself was present at AnimeJapan 2014 where it received the prestigious grand prize at Pony Canyon’s Anime-ka Taishou (Worth-Getting-Animated) contest with a prize pool of 1 million Yen and a chance for an anime adaptation.

The main staff members of Glass no Hana to Kowasu Sekai was also revealed and includes:
- Original Story: Physics Point’s D.backup
- Original Character Designer: Kantoku (Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko., Magical Suite Prism Nana)
- Director: Masashi Ishihama (Shinsekai yori, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Animation Director)
- Scriptwriter: Fumihiko Shimo (Clannad, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya)
- Anime Studio: A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Fairy Tail)
Glass no Hana to Kowasu Sekai (Vitreous Flower Destroy the World) is an upcoming anime film based on the D.backup 2013 short film produced by Physics Point with character designs by Kantoku (Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko., Magical Suite Prism Nana). The short won the grand prize at Pony Canyon’s first Anime-ka Taishou contest at AnimeJapan 2014, granting it a prize of 1 million Yen and a full anime adaptation.
