Sakurako-san Anime Begins October 8 + New Visual, Cast & Promotional Video Revealed

The official website of the upcoming anime adaptation of Shiori Ota and Tetsuo’s Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru (A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet) light novel series has revealed that the series will begin from October 8th. In addition, a brand new visual, the main cast and the first promotional video were all also revealed.

The Sakurako-san anime will begin its broadcast on Thursday, October 8th on Tokyo MX at 12:30am JST. It will also air on HBC on the 11th at 2:28am JST. The anime will then air on TV Saitama, TV Chiba and tvk on the 12th at 12:30am JST. A pre-screening event of the first episode will be held on  September 26.

The main cast of the upcoming anime have been revealed alongside the first set of character designs. The main cast has:

  • Shizuka Itou (Akeno Himejima from High School DxD) voicing as Sakurako Kujou

The first promotional video for the anime has been revealed, which introduces the main premise and characters of the anime:

  • Assistant Director: Makoto Bessho (Shangri-La, Armitage III Dual-Matrix)
  • Series Composer: Takayo Ikami (Mawaru Penguindrum, Yuri Kuma Arashi)
  • Anime Character Designer and Chief Animation Director: Michio Sato (Strike Witches, Viper’s Creed)
  • Animation Studio: Troyca (Aldnoah.Zero)

The Opening theme song of the anime will be performed by TRUE and the Ending theme will be sung by Technoboys Pulcraft Green-fund.

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru (A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet) is a mystery light novel series written by Shiori Ota with illustrations done by Tetsuo. The series began in February 2013 being published under Kadokawa Shoten’s Kadokawa Bunko imprint. To date a total of 7 volumes have been published, the latest on February 25th. The series has over 600,000 copies currently in circulation throughout Japan. An online radio drama adaptation of the series was produced last year, starring Yuuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan) voicing Shoutarou and Ami Koshimizu (Ryuuko Matoi from Kill la Kill) as Sakurako.

Here is a synopsis of the series from MAL:

Shoutarou Tatewaki, a high schooler living in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, meets Sakurako Kujou, a bone-loving ojou-san who has an ability to analyze specimen. Because of meeting her, he has to accompany her to various cases.
