Final Kekkai Sensen Episode Airs October 4th – 46 Minutes Long

The official website of anime adaptation of Yasuhiro Nightow’s Kekkai Sensen (Blood Blockade Battlefront) manga has finally revealed the air date of the 12th and final episode: October 4. The episode itself will be a lengthy 46 minutes in air time.


The final episode of Kekkai Sensen, titled Hello World!, will air on MBS on October 4 at 3:58am and will finish at 4:47am JST. The anime will then air on BS11 on the 8th AT 2:30am JST, and on Tokyo MX on the 11th at 7:30pm JST. It will also be streamed on various Japanese services, including Niconico, Bandai Channel, d Anime Store and dTV.

The 12th episode of the anime was delayed indefinitely back on June 30, with the reasoning that the episode was over the 30 minute allocated time slot. The anime’s staff did not want to cut down on the content to meet the July air date and elected to delay the final episode. Additionally, the staff will hold an event on October 4 for a special screening of the final episode.

Kekkai Sensen (Blood Blockade Battlefront) is a manga from Yasuhiro Nightow that began in 2008 as a one shot series. Nightow is most known for this other manga Trigun, which ended that year with Trigun Maximum, the series also had an anime adaptation in 1998. Kekkai Sensen was published in Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine, with a 3 part special releasing in 2009. Since then the manga became a regular series in 2010 instead being published in Shueisha’s Jump SQ.19 magazine. To date the series has a total of 10 compiled volumes.

A breach between Earth and the netherworlds has opened up over the city of New York, trapping New Yorkers and creatures from other dimensions in an impenetrable bubble. They’ve lived together for years, in a world of crazy crime sci-fi sensibilities. Now someone is threatening to sever the bubble, and a group of stylish superhumans is working to keep it from happening.


The final episode of the Kekkai Sensen anime will air on MBS on October 4th at 3:58am JST for a total of 46 minutes.
